What We Do Our Clients

Capacity Building Consultants has three goals for our clients:

  • Each individual staff member will gain a personal understanding of his/her abilities and improve his/her professional skills;
  • The Board will develop a strategy for recruiting its members and a plan of work to assure the organization is sustainable;
  • The organization will improve its effectiveness and efficiency to better serve its clients and the community.

Our services are divided into three phases:

Assessment:

We begin by working closely with the staff and Board, listening to what the organization's leadership and staff hope to achieve. Our experienced consultants ask penetrating and insightful questions and use numerous assessment techniques to help staff and Board reach a consensus of the mission, values, and objectives. During this process, staff has the opportunity, with CBC guidance, to evaluate individual and collective capabilities and career goals. Capacity Building Consultants demonstrates how to develop specific, measurable, and accountable strategies … all focused on the organization's vision of and goals for the future.

Relationship:

As the nonprofit identifies those granting organizations most likely to see value in building a relationship, Capacity Building Consultants helps define the request. Again, through a process of seeking first to understand and determine the culture and value systems driving both organizations, Capacity Building Consultants is able to bring the two closer to a state of mutual benefit. Alignment is the key to success.

Capacity Building Consultants then works with both the granting organization and the nonprofit to define and position how the goals and objectives of each can best be achieved … together. Capacity Building Consultants works toward a successful "meeting of the minds" as the basis for a fulfilling and potentially longstanding relationship between organizations that have common goals and objectives.

Capacity Building Consultants is the communication facilitator for a successful capacity building grant.

Implementation:

Once the goals and direction for achieving substantive organizational improvement are established, Capacity Building Consultants can provide:
    coaching and consultation to staff and Board;
    project management in areas such as
       employee searches,
       equipment and technology purchasing,
       work-flow improvement,
       marketing and public relations,
       resource development,
       Board recruitment,
       client relationship management,
       donor relationship management,
       and many more;
    interim executive and management staffing

Capacity Building Consultants has the experience, the knowledge, and the proven strategies for implementing the organizational and infrastructure improvements required for true change.

Capacity Building Consultants works toward a solid framework whereby the resources provided are highly leveraged and are able to make a substantive difference in the overall measure of success for both grantor and grantee.
